How to Install COREtec Flooring?

What Is COREtec Flooring?

COREtec is a type of luxury vinyl floor tiles made by USfloors. They have become popular due to their unique design, durability, construction, and ease of installation.

Advantages of COREtech Flooring

COREtec flooring packs a number of benefits in comparison to other luxury floorings. Here are to name a few:

Colors and Styles

COREtec floors come in many different styles which can range from hardwood, tile, stone, or even concrete. These styles are all made possible because the floors are made with real texture, beveled edges, and graining. This is why they look like real hardwood, even more than laminate flooring. Besides styles, COREtec floors also come in a variety of colors and tones, from dark, rich browns to white and light greys.

Construction

What makes these floors innovative is the extruded core technology. The core prevents any expansion and contraction, thus preventing the formation of peaks and gaps in the flooring. COREtec floors come equipped with an interlocking system that locks one plank onto the other.

That is why they are easier to install by yourself. This type of flooring also contains a cork underlay. This adds insulation to the floors which keeps your floors warmer. The cork underlay also helps in sound reduction which will make your floors quieter.

Waterproof

One of the biggest reasons to choose COREtec floors is that they are 100% waterproof. This means they are ideal for rooms like bathrooms, kitchens, basements, and laundry rooms. With COREtec floors, you will never have to face swelling, warp, or buckle when exposed to moisture.

Maintenance

Due to the durability of these floors, they are very easy to clean. You can just use a microfiber mop, a hand broom, a vacuum, or even a dust mop to clean the floors.

Durability

With COREtec, high-tech printing technology not only makes the floors resemble real hardwood or stone but also gives the floors a variegated texture when you run your toes or fingers along with it. COREtech floors do not warp over time and are also mold and mildew resistant thanks to its cork underlayment. This makes them more durable and long-lasting when compared to other floors.

Warranty

COREtec floors come with a limited lifetime warranty so you won’t have to deal with any faulty flooring. Plus, they are also Green guard certified, which means they meet high chemical emission standards.

Value

With COREtec floors, you get the total package. Not only will you be able to find a floor that resembles engineered hardwood, stone, or tile, but you will also be getting a 100% waterproof floor which is durable enough to withstand a high volume of foot traffic. To add to that, you will only have to pay half the price of engineered hardwood, stone, or tile depending on your preference.

Now that you have learned about COREtech floors and their advantages, let us learn how you can install them!

How to Install COREtec Flooring?

To install COREtec flooring, you will need to follow the following steps:

Step 1: Clean Work Area

The first step is simple. You need to properly clean the area where you want to install your COREtec floors. This includes cleaning any residue of glue or adhesive from your carpet. Removing any leftover or broken tiles. And also removing any screws or nails which may hinder the installation of your floors. You will also need to make sure the surface is level to ensure that after your floors are installed you have no gaps. If you have any bumps on your surface then you can use a hammer to remove them easily.

Step 2: Proper Alignment

After your surface area is cleaned, you need to make sure you start from the left side of the room and then make your way to the right side. In this way, you can lock each plank onto the other. The flooring should be laid in parallel with the longest wall. When installing it, you should make sure to leave a ¼” gap between the flooring and the wall to leave room for any expansion the floor may have.

Step 3: Use a Flooring Spacer

To correctly place the above-mentioned gap without having to measure each plank, you need to use a ¼” spacer. You will need these spacers to lock each piece onto the other properly so the flooring does not move against the walls.

Step 4: The First Row Should Be Straight

When you start the installation process, make sure the first row of planks is installed straight or the entire floor will be installed at an angle. When you get to the end of the row, you can measure the size of the plank you need with a measurement tape and use a utility knife to snap and cut the rest of the plank. You will not need a saw for this process. You can use the plank that you cut off to start the next row. Just keep repeating this process across the floor.

COREtec is your best option if you want the feeling of real hardwood flooring at half the price of real hardwood. COREtec flooring will cost between $3 and $5 a square foot which is very cheap considering the amount of variety you can get for that price.

The Bottom Line

In conclusion, COREtec not only provides the look and feel of real hardwood, stone, or tile flooring but is also very durable thanks to its waterproof and anti-mold and mildew cork underlayment technology.

This notion can also be supported by the ease with which one can install these floors, especially if you have had any prior experience with installing tiles. COREtec is not only cost-effective when compared

with other floors but also provides a variety of colors and styles to make your home feel as distinct and aesthetically pleasing as possible.
